GroupJive a PHP component (plugin) for Joomla CMS was created by Holmes-Media (now ethode) in 2006 for MyPraize.com. The component allowed the social network to make “groups” functionality available to users much like Facebook and MySpace. The component was one of the most downloaded Joomla components for almost two years and boasts tens of thousands of users. The component was given over to Joomlapolis in 2009 for update/maintenance given their track record with Community Builder (another Social network plugin for Joomla).
